Просмотров 33 тыс.8 лет назад
*UPDATE* To everyone who spent their time watching, liking, and commenting on this video I would like to thank you! I’m sorry that there will not be a part two to this video. All of the video footage that I had was lost because my camera reformatted the card that it was on. Where the project ended up.. I did fiberglass over the foam and it went pretty well. The one drawback was weight. It weigh...

    great vid. i went easy route though. used surfboard, 4 mounting plates, pvc, dowling rods, flag pole holders that adjust, and plank of wood.

    Good video. Making the outriggers out of 1/8" plywood using the stitch and glue method and then fiber glassing it, would have been less messy and less work if not about the same. Make side panels out of cardboard and test fit it holding panels together with tape, once you are happy with the results, take it apart and trace the cardboard side panels outline onto the plywood to cut and use for the final product. I know I know, everything is always easier in theory, but it should work. Make sure to build on the top side of the outrigger a water sealed hatch, in case water ever gets in the outrigger, you will be able to get it out via the hatch.

      cubanation74 I think doing it in ply would be more difficult and labor intensive than this foam method. This foam way looks a lot simpler. I'm looking at making my own and this looks the easiest way to me

    Cant you simply buy styrofoam construction blocks wich are cheap. Paint with water-paint and then add fiberglass? You are doing a mess in this bidro.

      I'm happy that works out for you. At the time I was making this video the kayak I was was 12 feet long and didn't have the greatest stability. I was taking it into rough Ocean water fishing for striper, So it definitely would've added to the safety factor, and I thought it would be a fun experiment.

    great video. I was watching to see the finished product, as soon as you said you were going to fiberglass it, the video when to outtakes. ??? anyway, I'll look for an updated video and testing.

      Definitely in the near future I'm going to do an update. I ended up moving and buying a different kayak so that project never got finished. I did a few layers of fiberglass and painted it shortly after this video. I do plan on putting a final video up. Thank you for being patient and following!!!

    it be quicker to use Lobster Pot

    • @EzioCovone
      @EzioCovone 8 лет назад

      I didn't really like the PVC, lobster pot buoy, or boat fender (dock protector) look. I was going for a more finished and fit look. All of the alternative options probably work just fine and it wouldn't be nearly as involved to build them, this is just my style and the route I took.

    Nice Mod. I have been thinking about dropping a deep cycle battery in that square. Looking for some sort of tall hatch cover, I think the battery will stick up past the deck.

      +joe buck I ended up changing my plans for it. I'm going to use what I made in this video and the rest of the footage that I haven't uploaded to make a mold so I can cast a lighter one. I'll put together a video of where I'm at with it!
